What to Do If You Feel Unsafe During a Trip

Your safety is our top priority. Here's what to do immediately:

Step 1: Use the emergency button

Tap the shield iconEmergency in the Govah app. This alerts our safety team and provides your live GPS location.

Step 2: Call emergency services

In South Africa:

  • Police (SAPS): 10111
  • Ambulance / Fire: 10177
  • Emergency (all): 112 (works on any network, even without airtime)

Step 3: Share your trip

Tap Share Trip to send your live location to someone you trust.

Step 4: Report after the trip

After reaching safety:

  1. Tap Trips → the affected trip → Report Safety Incident.
  2. Provide as much detail as possible.
  3. Our safety team will contact you within 2 hours.

Never ignore your instincts

If something doesn't feel right — the vehicle doesn't match the app, the driver is behaving unusually — trust your gut. You can ask to exit the vehicle at any safe public location.
